Liberty began as a church planting mission from First Baptist Church Bridge City and first began gathering together on December 13, 1987 at the Bridge City Community Center. In that first year the core group was established and met weekly for worship and Sunday School. The church was constituted as Liberty Baptist Church on April 7, 1991.

Liberty is a church with a heart for missions and a kingdom vision- co-sponsoring the Silver Oaks church plant, which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2014 as Silver Oaks Baptist Church. Our members have participated in international mission trips to Mexico, Romania, Africa, Peru, Guatemala, and Belize. Mission Teams have also been sent for evangelism, mission support, and church planting to Minnesota, Colorado, Oklahoma, Seattle, WA, and throughout Texas.
